About
Amara Colinco is an emerging writer of upmarket and literary speculative fiction. As a multiply marginalized Chinoy Filipino, their stories center underrepresented characters whose complex, often misunderstood inner worlds manifest as the supernatural.
Amara's primary work-in-progress is SPLITTING IMAGE, an upmarket urban fantasy/folk horror adult novel rooted in pre-colonial Filipino folklore, ancestral magic, and intergenerational trauma--perfect for fans of the urban fantasy film KPOP DEMON HUNTERS (2025) and Monika Kim's horror novel THE EYES ARE THE BEST PART (2024).
Aside from creating fantastical worlds and the messy people inhabiting them, Amara enjoys playing the piano, knitting Portuguese-style, and studying their ancestral languages. As second-generation diasporic Asian settlers, she and her spouse live on unceded Lenape land with their beloved cats.
